chhaya.

Hi, I’m
Chhaya.

A freedomatic girl.
Free to be. Curious to know.

I’m the CTO of OnebySeven, building with Ashish. I love cats. And I love following a question, just to see where it goes.

A little of my world

one why,
then ten more.

One why becomes
ten more.

A person. A concept. The way the world works. If something stays on my mind, I want to understand it.

I don’t need every question to lead somewhere. Sometimes, knowing a little more is enough.

Some things
I wonder about…

Maybe one of them
stays with you, too.

What is consciousness?

How are we here, aware of ourselves and the world around us? I find myself thinking about what it means to be human, and how we exist in this universe.

What makes you feel most aware of being here?

How do people change us?

My curiosity can begin with a human being, too. I want to understand how other people affect us, and how we affect them.

Whose way of seeing the world has become part of yours?

What is intuition?

Sometimes I feel I know something before it happens. And yet I don’t always trust that feeling. I’m still learning to listen to myself.

How do you tell a feeling from something you know?

What happens after we die?

Death, spirituality, rebirth—these are questions I keep returning to. They’re part of my wish to understand life, even when I don’t have an answer.

What does that question make you notice about being alive?

Building something.
Being myself.

At OnebySeven, I’m the CTO. Ashish and I are building it together.

And outside a title, I’m someone who likes to be free. Free to follow a thought, ask another question, and see where my curiosity goes.

A look at OnebySeven

Also, cats.
Always cats.

Say hello. No introduction required.

Before my feet
touch the floor.

When I wake up, I touch the floor before stepping onto it. It’s where we live, after all.

I pray in the morning. I pray again before I sleep. Little moments that belong to every day.

Sometimes a number repeats, and I feel a little reassurance that I’m on the right path.

“I don’t look
for signs.
They look
for me.
”
and then I find them.

A stranger.
A hand to hold.
A memory that stays.

A day I still think about.

I think I may have met God.

It was an ordinary metro journey, in 2016 or 2017. At the station, a woman asked me to help an older woman who was blind get to her stop.

Read the metro story

I held her hand, and we got on the metro together. We talked for four or five minutes. When we reached her stop, I held her hand again and helped her out of the station.

I wanted to make sure she got into an auto before I went home. But she said, “Just walk me up the stairs, and I’ll go on my own.”

I was a little unsure, but we went up. I said goodbye and told her to take care. She was walking slowly, with a stick.

Four or five seconds later, I looked back. I couldn’t see her anywhere. The road looked empty.

My mother used to say that God could appear in front of us in any form. I wondered if that was what had happened—if I had been given a chance to help.

I don’t know. But I still carry that moment with me.

A million people,
a little happier.

I want to make a million people happy.
To leave something that stays with people,
long after I’m gone.

Take a question
with you.

If you leave a little more curious
than you arrived, I’d like that.

What are you noticing now that you usually miss?

Say hello.
